Card Spending Rules and Logic
Currency Spending Priority and Fees
When you make a payment with your UR Mastercard Debit Card, the system will automatically select which balance to use based on the transaction currency and your available funds.
| If the payment currency is supported on UR | If the payment currency is not supported on UR |
|---|---|
|
1. Your balance in the same currency will be used first. 2. If that balance is insufficient, your USD balance will be used. 3. If USD is also insufficient, the system will use the enabled currency with the highest available balance. |
1. Your EUR balance will be used first. 2. If EUR is insufficient, your USD balance will be used. 3. If both are insufficient, the system will use the enabled currency with the highest available balance. |
| Card FX Fees | Explanations |
|---|---|
| No Fee | If the payment currency is supported on UR and you have enough balance in that currency (and it is enabled), the payment will be deducted directly from that balance. |
| 1% Fee |
• If the payment currency is supported but your balance is
insufficient (or the currency is not enabled), the payment
will be deducted from your USD balance or the enabled currency
with the highest available balance. • If the payment currency is not supported on UR but you have sufficient EUR balance (and EUR is enabled), the transaction will be converted and deducted from your EUR balance. |
| 2% Fee | If the payment currency is not supported and your EUR balance is insufficient, the transaction will be processed using your USD balance or the enabled currency with the highest available balance. |

Using USDe for Card Payments
UR has partnered with Ethena to enable you to deposit and spend USDe directly using your UR Mastercard Debit Card.
To use USDe as a payment currency, make sure both USD and USDe are configured as Enabled Currencies in your card settings. If your USD balance is insufficient to cover a payment, your USDe balance will be automatically used. UR references the USDe/USDC exchange rate from major centralized exchanges, capped at a 1:1 ratio to protect you from potential rate discrepancies.
Important: USDe exchange rates may fluctuate. If the exchange rate deviates from USD beyond a certain threshold, UR may temporarily pause spending using your USDe balance to ensure transaction stability and protect users.
Restricted Transactions
UR enables you to pay and spend globally with your UR Mastercard Debit Card. However, transactions with certain merchant types will be automatically declined to help protect your account and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
Additionally, any transactions originating from Restricted Payment Countries will be automatically rejected, regardless of merchant type. This policy is part of UR's compliance and risk management measures, designed to safeguard your account and provide a secure payment experience.
| Restricted Merchant Types | |||
|---|---|---|---|
| Automated Fuel Dispensers | Charity Organizations | Civic, Social or Fraternal Associations | Customer Financial Institutions |
| Gambling, Lottery or Casino | Money Transfer Businesses | Political Organizations | Public Transportations |
| Quasi Cash | Religious Organizations | Security Broker or Dealer | Utilities |
Refunds
When you get a refund, we'll return your money based on the original transaction currency and what we support.
| Refund Types | Refund Logic | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Supported Currency | If the original transaction was made in a supported currency, you'll receive the refund in that same currency. | If your preferred refund currency is EUR and you spent USD 100, you'll be refunded in USD (as USD is supported). |
| Unsupported Currency | If the original transaction currency is not supported, we'll convert the refund into your preferred refund currency. | If your preferred refund currency is EUR and you spent KRW 100,000, you'll be refunded in EUR (as KRW is not supported). |
- Most refunds are completed within 7 days after the merchant processes the refund.
- Cross-border refunds may take longer and can take up to 30 days to be completed.
- The time it takes for a refund to appear depends on when the merchant processes it.
- If a refund is converted into your preferred currency, the final amount may vary due to exchange rates at the time of processing.
Unauthorized and Disputed Transactions
If you notice a transaction you don't recognize, here's what to do:
Double-check the transaction: Start by reviewing the merchant name. Some businesses may appear under a registered or parent company name, which can look different from the brand you recognize.
Contact the merchant first: If you made the purchase but something isn't right, such as the wrong amount, incorrect currency, or a duplicate charge. Reach out to the merchant directly to resolve it. Most issues can be fixed faster this way.
Raise a dispute with UR: If the merchant doesn't respond or is unable to resolve the issue, contact UR Support to file a dispute. To help us investigate, please provide: A copy of your receipt (if available), Any communication with the merchant, Details of the issue
Report unauthorized transactions immediately: If you believe the transaction was not made by you, freeze your UR Card immediately and contact UR Support as soon as possible. Acting quickly helps us secure your account and begin the investigation.
FAQ — UR Mastercard Debit Card
One-Time Password (OTP) for Online Purchases
UR uses the 3-D Secure (3DS) protocol to keep your online payments safe. For certain transactions, you may be asked to enter a one-time password (OTP) sent to your registered email address. This extra step is part of the EU's Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) requirements under PSD2, helping ensure your purchases remain secure.
Can I request a physical card?
The UR Mastercard Debit Card is virtual-only and a physical version is not available. This helps keep your card more secure, as it cannot be lost, stolen, or skimmed. You can still use your UR Card anywhere Mastercard is accepted, whether online or in-store through supported mobile wallets.
How long is my UR Mastercard Debit Card valid, and how is it renewed?
All UR Mastercard Debit Cards are valid for five (5) years from the date of activation. If your card has been used at least once within the six (6) months before it expires, it will be automatically renewed under the same terms. If your card has not been used at that time, it will not renew automatically. You'll need to manually reactivate it after expiry.
Can I request higher card limits?
Your card spending limit depends on your membership tier. Refer to the Card Spending Limits section for more information. Please note that these limits are fixed and cannot be adjusted for individual cards.
Common Reasons Why a Card Transaction May Fail
- Your card balance is insufficient.
- Your card is frozen or has expired.
- You've reached the daily or monthly spending limit.
- The card information entered is incorrect (for online purchases).
- The transaction's fiat currency is not enabled under Authorized
Currencies.
- The transaction involves a restricted type of payment.
- The payment is linked to a restricted country.
- The transaction was declined by the merchant.
Note: If your transaction was declined directly on the merchant's page and no record appears in your Transaction History, it means the merchant rejected the payment on their side. Unfortunately, we don't receive details about the reason for the decline.
In this case, we recommend trying the transaction again or completing your purchase with another merchant. You may also wish to contact the merchant directly for more information about why the payment was declined.
Can I withdraw cash from an ATM?
ATM access is not supported because virtual cards don’t have a physical chip or magnetic stripe required for cash withdrawals.
For your security: UR will only contact you from official @ur.app email addresses or through in-app notifications. We will never ask for your password, private keys, or any sensitive credentials via email. If you receive a suspicious message claiming to be from UR, please do not respond and contact our support team immediately.
