Paying with USDe
You can use your available USDe balance to pay for eligible purchases with your UR Mastercard® Debit Card. This feature is enabled through UR's integration with Ethena, allowing you to spend USDe without manually converting it before making a purchase.
To enable USDe for card spending, make sure both USD and USDe are configured as Enabled Currency in your card settings. During card authorization, UR first attempts to fund the purchase using your available USD balance. If your USD balance is insufficient, UR automatically uses your available USDe balance.
Card payments funded by USDe are converted using the prevailing USDe/USDC market rate sourced from major centralized exchanges. To help protect users from abnormal market pricing, the conversion rate is capped at a maximum of 1 USDe = 1 USD.
USDe is a digital asset whose market value may fluctuate.
If the exchange rate deviates beyond an acceptable threshold, UR may temporarily suspend card spending funded by USDe until market conditions stabilize.
Restricted Transactions
UR enables you to pay and spend globally with your UR Mastercard Debit Card. However, transactions with certain merchant types will be automatically declined to help protect your account and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
Additionally, any transactions originating from Restricted Payment Countries will be automatically rejected, regardless of merchant type. This policy is part of UR's compliance and risk management measures, designed to safeguard your account and provide a secure payment experience.
| Restricted Merchant Types | ||
|---|---|---|
| Automated Fuel Dispensers | Charity Organizations | Civic, Social or Fraternal Associations |
| Customer Financial Institutions | Gambling, Lottery or Casino | Money Transfer Businesses |
| Political Organizations | Public Transportation | Quasi Cash |
| Religious Organizations | Security Broker or Dealer | Utilities |
Refunds
When a merchant approves your refund, UR processes the refund based on the original purchase currency and the applicable refund rules below.
| Currency | Refund Rule | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Supported Currency | If your purchase was made in a supported payment currency, the refund will be credited in the same currency as the original purchase. | You made a purchase in HKD. Once the refund is processed, the refunded amount will be credited in HKD. |
| Unsupported Currency | If your purchase was made in an unsupported currency, the refund will be credited in your preferred refund currency. | You made a purchase in GBP, and your preferred refund currency is CNH. Once the refund is processed, the refunded amount will be credited in CNH. |
- Refund processing begins only after the merchant has approved and submitted the refund.
- Most refunds are completed within 7 calendar days after the merchant processes the refund. Cross-border refunds may take up to 30 calendar days, depending on the merchant and card network.
Unauthorized and Disputed Transactions
If you notice a card transaction that you do not recognize, follow the steps below:
Review the transaction details: Check the merchant name and transaction details carefully. Some merchants may appear under their registered business name or parent company, which may differ from the brand name you recognize.
Contact the merchant: If you recognize the purchase but believe there is an issue (e.g. incorrect amount, duplicate charges, incorrect currency), contact the merchant first.
Contact UR Support to raise a dispute: If you are unable to resolve the issue with the merchant, contact UR Support to initiate a card transaction dispute. To help us investigate your case, please provide:
A copy of the purchase receipt (if available)
Any correspondence with the merchant
A description of the issue and the disputed transaction
Report unauthorized transactions immediately: If you believe the transaction was not authorized by you, freeze your UR Mastercard Debit Card immediately and contact UR Support as soon as possible.
FAQ — UR Mastercard Debit Card
How do I activate my UR Mastercard Debit Card?
Before you can activate your UR Mastercard Debit Card, please ensure that:
- Your UR account has been successfully verified (KYC completed).
- You have deposited at least EUR 1 or CHF 1 into your UR account.
Once these requirements have been met:
- Sign in to your UR account through the UR App or UR Web.
- Go to the Card section.
- Select Activate Card.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the activation process.
Once activated, your UR Mastercard Debit Card will be ready for online purchases, in-store payments through supported digital wallets, and other eligible card transactions.
One-Time Password (OTP) for Online Purchases
UR uses the 3-D Secure (3DS) protocol to help protect your online payments. For certain transactions, you may be asked to enter a one-time password (OTP) sent to your registered email address.
This additional verification is part of the European Union's Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) requirements under PSD2, helping ensure your online purchases remain secure.
Can I request a physical card?
No. The UR Mastercard Debit Card is available as a virtual card only. This helps improve security because the card cannot be lost, stolen, or skimmed. You can continue to use your UR Card for online purchases and in-store payments through supported mobile wallets wherever Mastercard is accepted.
How long is my UR Mastercard Debit Card valid, and how is it renewed?
All UR Mastercard Debit Cards are valid for five (5) years from the date of activation. Renewal rules are as follows:
- If your card has been used at least once during the six (6) months before it expires, your card will be automatically renewed under the same terms.
- If your card hasn't been used during that period, it won't renew automatically. You will need to manually reactivate your card after it expires.
Can I request higher card limits?
Card spending limits depend on your membership tier. Refer to the Card Spending Limits section for the applicable limits.
Please note that these limits are fixed and cannot be increased for individual cards.
Why was my card transaction unsuccessful?
Your card transaction may be declined for one of the following common reasons:
- Your card balance is insufficient.
- Your card is frozen or has expired.
- You've reached the daily or monthly spending limit.
- The card information entered is incorrect (for online purchases).
- The transaction's currency is not enabled under Enabled Currencies.
- The transaction involves a restricted merchant type.
- The payment is linked to a restricted country.
- The transaction was declined by the merchant.
If your transaction was declined directly by the merchant and no record appears in your Transaction History, it means the merchant rejected the payment before it reached UR. Unfortunately, UR doesn't receive the reason for the decline.
In this case, we recommend trying the payment again, completing your purchase with another merchant, or contacting the merchant directly for more information.
Can I withdraw cash from an ATM?
No. ATM cash withdrawals aren't supported because virtual cards don't have the physical chip or magnetic stripe required for ATM access.
For your security: UR will only contact you from official @ur.app email addresses or through in-app notifications. We will never ask for your password, private keys, or any sensitive credentials via email. If you receive a suspicious message claiming to be from UR, please do not respond and contact our support team immediately.
