FAQ — KYC Verification
What is KYC Verification?
KYC (Know Your Customer) verification is a required identity check that helps UR meet regulatory standards, prevent fraud, and keep your account secure.
By completing KYC, you'll unlock full access to UR's services, including multi-currency banking and your UR Mastercard Debit Card.
What documents are required for KYC verification?
You'll need to provide a valid biometric passport or identity card with an embedded electronic (NFC) chip.
Why do I have to enable location service during KYC verification?
We verify your physical location during the KYC process to confirm that you are in a supported country or territory. This is done by checking your device's location services during verification.
Enabling location services allows us to confirm that your current location meets UR’s regional availability and compliance requirements. If location services are disabled, we may not be able to complete your identity verification.
Is my location tracked after verification?
No. Your location is only used during the KYC verification process to confirm eligibility. UR does not continuously track your location after verification is completed.
How long does the KYC verification process take?
The KYC verification process usually takes about 15 minutes. In some cases, it may take up to 3 business days if additional checks are needed.
Common reasons why your KYC verification may fail
Here are some common reasons why your verification might not go through:
- Residing in a country not supported by UR
- Submitting an unsupported passport
- Uploading blurry, incomplete, or unclear identity documents
- Using expired or invalid documents
- A name or address mismatch with your submitted document
- Poor lighting or an unsuccessful face liveness check
- An incomplete NFC scan of your biometric passport
- Using a passport without an embedded NFC chip
- Uploading a screenshot instead of the original document file
- Having your device's GPS location turned off during verification
For your security: UR will only contact you from official @ur.app email addresses or through in-app notifications.
